Stefan Wolpe begins now to be put in the right place - the young man who played eight turntables simultaneously in 1928 became 25 years later the professor of Morton Feldman... If it's a fact that his American work is better known in the recent years, what we propose here is still unpublished - this is his work as a young angry composer in Berlin in the early thirties. Agitprop and Dada Songs, with texts by Maiakovski, Schwitters and Lenin... Mainly pieces for piano performed by Marianne Pousseur, Lucy Grauman, Vincent Bouchot (voices) and Johan Bossers (piano)

Stefan Wolpe (Berlin 1902-New York 1972), closely linked to Dada and the far left wing, was an active member of the "Novembergruppe", so named after the month in which the Revolution of 1918 occurred, which led to the downfall of the German monarchy. "... it brought together radical artists - radical in their rejection of customary forms of expression, radical in their use of new means of expression..."
From there, he drifted between Austria, Romania and Palestine, finally going to New York in 1938, where he stayed until the end of his life. After the Second World War, he was the leading person for the New York school.
